Comprehensive Vascular Health
Cardiovascular and venous issues often go undetected until they cause more severe health problems. CTA/CTV imaging provides a detailed, non-invasive view of the arteries and veins, helping doctors identify blockages, aneurysms, and other abnormalities early. By using advanced medical CT scanning technology, CTA/CTV can uncover hidden cardiovascular risks, enabling timely intervention. At Element Medical Imaging, we offer precise CTA/CTV scans to ensure that you receive the best possible care for your vascular health, all without the need for invasive procedures.
Exam explanation
CT Angiogram (CTA) is a type of Computed Tomography exam that specifically focuses on the arteries/arterial system in various parts of the body. It is used to provide detailed diagnostic images of the circulatory system. CTA imaging is a non-invasive alternative to traditional angiography which involves inserting a catheter into the femoral artery.
During the Exam
To highlight the blood vessels, a CT contrast agent will be administered in the form of an injection. You will lay face up on a table, and it will move into the large donut shaped scanner. While inside the scanner, you will be able to see your outside surroundings. The technologist will talk with you from the control room where they can see you at all times. Periodically, you will be asked to hold your breath for a short period, not swallow, etc. This exam typically takes about 20 minutes.
CT Venogram
A CT Venogram (CTV) is similar to a CTA, but it specifically focuses on the veins and venous circulatory system rather than the arteries. CTV imaging helps identify issues like blood clots, venous blockages, or abnormal veins that may be causing pain or swelling. This type of CTV scan is essential for diagnosing venous conditions and planning appropriate treatment. CTV is commonly used for patients with symptoms related to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or venous insufficiency. In CTV radiology, we utilize state-of-the-art technology to provide detailed images of the venous system, including specialized views like the CTV head for diagnosing issues in the brain's venous circulation. This highly effective medical imaging technique that can pinpoint potential health risks, ensuring accurate diagnosis and timely intervention.
