Fluoroscopy - Arthrogram

Element Medical Imaging tagline showcasing patient-centered care at our diagnostic imaging and radiology centers in the Kansas City area.

Target Joint Pain with Precision

Joint pain, stiffness, and limited mobility can significantly affect your quality of life. When standard imaging techniques don’t provide enough clarity, a Fluoroscopy-guided arthrogram offers a precise solution. Whether it's a shoulder, hip, or knee, an arthrogram can pinpoint the source of your discomfort, helping your healthcare provider recommend the best course of treatment. At Element Medical Imaging, we use state-of-the-art FluoroScan arthrograms to give you accurate, detailed insights for effective joint care.

Exam Explanation

An arthrogram is an image of the inside of a joint (shoulder, hip, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle) using an injection of contrast media into the joint. This contrast helps MRI arthrograms or CT arthrograms diagnose damage to the internal structure of the joint.

Exam Preparation

No specific preparation is required. You can expect a telephone call from a technologist before the exam to answer health history questions.

During the Exam

You will be asked to remove any clothing or jewelry that may be in the way and given a gown to change into. The technologist will then position you on the X-ray imaging table. The skin around the joint will be numbed with lidocaine. The contrast media will then be injected into the joint using X-ray guidance. After the injection you will receive your MRI or CT exam.
